Q: What breeds are raised at Wholehearted Farm?
A: Our herd consists of Angus and Charolais.
Q: How long are the calves on feed?
A: Our calves are grass fed, and when they're about 120 days from butcher date, we put them on grain (corn). Not only does this help with marbling, but it makes for some very tasty and flavorful beef!
Q: What do you give the calves for feed?
A: Our local co-op (Jackson Farmers Inc) formulates our feed ration with corn grown by local farmers in the area.
Q: How long have you sold beef?
A: We began our beef business in 2014 selling 1/4, 1/2, and whole shares. Over the years, we have grown and added in more customers. We saw a need for smaller quantities of beef, so we decided to get our license in 2022 to sell individual cuts and beef bundles directly from our farm.
